Iran Condemns New U.S. Sanctions, Describing Them as "Hostile Approach"

The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the recent U.S. sanctions targeting its oil network today, Wednesday, describing this step as reflecting Washington's "hostile approach." This statement comes before the third round of indirect nuclear talks regarding Tehran’s nuclear program.
In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei affirmed that Washington's policy of imposing sanctions on "the Iranian people" represents a "clear contradiction" to its calls for dialogue and negotiation, indicating America's lack of goodwill and seriousness in this regard.
This statement comes ahead of the scheduled nuclear talks early next week between Iran and the United States. Last Tuesday, Washington targeted an entity involved in Iran's gas sector with sanctions that align with President Donald Trump's "maximum pressure" policy, aimed at reducing Iranian oil exports to zero.
In a statement published on the "Telegram" platform, Baqaei added that "the continued imposition of sanctions on various economic sectors in Iran clearly contradicts U.S. demands for dialogue and negotiation, indicating a lack of goodwill and seriousness from the United States."
High-level expert talks are scheduled to take place on Saturday in Oman, where both sides are expected to start laying the framework for a potential agreement concerning Iran's nuclear program.
In this context, during a visit to Beijing where he met with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told the official Iranian press that it is still too early to judge the results of the Iranian-American talks, noting that things are moving in the right direction.
Araqchi added, "We are cautiously optimistic, and if the Americans continue the dialogue in a constructive manner while avoiding unrealistic demands, I am confident that we will be able to reach a good agreement in the end."
